Asscher Cut Diamond Engagement rings
Asscher cut engagement rings are chosen by those who appreciate symmetry, depth, and a refined sense of structure that feels both vintage and architectural. Defined by its square shape with deeply trimmed corners and step cut facets, the Asscher cut engagement ring delivers a distinctive hall of mirrors effect that draws the eye inward. Unlike brilliant cuts that scatter light outward, an Asscher cut diamond reflects light in layered flashes, creating a calm, mesmerizing brilliance that feels deliberate and sophisticated.
Originally inspired by early twentieth century design, the Asscher cut carries a strong Art Deco influence, making it a favorite for those who love geometric precision and old world glamour. Its high crown and smaller table emphasize clarity and proportion, meaning every detail of the diamond is visible and intentional. For buyers searching for a square diamond engagement ring with vintage character and modern refinement, the Asscher cut offers a balanced alternative to more common shapes.
At Fortevia Jewels, our Asscher cut engagement rings are crafted with both lab grown diamonds and premium moissanite, giving couples the flexibility to choose brilliance aligned with their values. Lab grown Asscher cut diamond engagement rings provide identical physical and optical properties to mined diamonds, while moissanite Asscher engagement rings offer exceptional durability and distinctive fire suited for everyday wear. Each stone is selected for strong symmetry and precise proportions to preserve the cut’s signature depth.
Asscher cut engagement rings pair beautifully with clean solitaire settings that highlight their architectural lines, as well as bezel settings for a bold, structured look. Three stone designs with step cut side stones enhance the geometric aesthetic, while pavé bands add subtle brilliance without distracting from the center stone’s symmetry. Available in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and platinum, each ring can be tailored to complement personal style.
For those seeking something uniquely personal, our experts and certified gemologists guide you through customization, from selecting ideal Asscher proportions to refining the setting and metal choice. An Asscher cut engagement ring from Fortevia Jewels is not simply about sparkle, it is about clarity, balance, and a love defined by strength and timeless design.
FAQ's

Technically speaking, nothing. And even a diamond listed as an Asscher cut will say "square emerald cut" on its certification. This is because the original Asscher cut diamond was the world's first patented diamond cut, created by Joseph Asscher in the early 20th century. But the family's patent expired during WWII, making the cutting pattern up for grabs by the general public. While the style is still called the Asscher cut, they are no longer patented or regulated, and instead are really just square emerald cuts. Hence, one in the same.

Asscher cut and emerald cut diamonds are very similar. They are both step-cut diamonds, but emerald cuts are elongated with a rectangular outline while Asscher cuts have a square outline, or 1:1 length to width ratio. Both shapes have clipped corners rather than points. Asscher cuts, with their even proportions have more of a kaleidoscope sparkle, while emerald cuts have more elongated facets and a larger table, giving them more of a flash effect. But both are sparkly and have fantastic fire that rainbow flash diamonds are known for.

While round diamonds are the most expensive diamond shape, Asscher cut diamonds are one of the most expensive fancy shapes on the market. Asschers only make up about 2% of diamonds available today. This relative rarity means that finding a really great Asscher cut within your budget can sometimes be tough to tackle. Not that it can’t be done.
