Asscher Cut Diamond Engagement rings
Indeed, some of the costliest diamonds in the world have been cut in this century old facet style. Named for its inventors, Holland's Asscher Brothers in 1902, the asscher cut diamond is favored by royalty. Timeless and always stylish, asscher cut engagement rings are a collector's dream.
There could not be a diamond shape more closely associated with the legacy of diamond cutting than the pristine asscher cut engagement ring. The straight edges of its facets draw in the viewer to inspect the quality of the stone. No wonder aristocratic jewelry has so often been set with asscher cut diamonds. With its rich pedigree, those owning an asscher cut diamond ring know they're holding a piece of history.
The asscher cut might be considered a kissing cousin of the emerald cut. It has those parallel step cut facets, making engagement rings with asscher cut diamonds a chic option. Whereas the emerald cut is rectangular, the asscher cut diamond with its broad clipped corners is much more squarish in appearance. These step cuts make the viewer feel like they are looking into a hall of mirrors that keep reflecting light back to the eye.
We know you want your engagement ring to be unique from everyone else. It's part of your exclusive love story and you should have a memorable ring like no one else has. So try the appealing asscher cut engagement ring style. An asscher cut diamond engagement ring is sophisticated and distinctive. We'll bet you don't know anyone else with that shape of diamond. It just might be the one for you.
FAQ's
-
Technically speaking, nothing. And even a diamond listed as an Asscher cut will say "square emerald cut" on its certification. This is because the original Asscher cut diamond was the world's first patented diamond cut, created by Joseph Asscher in the early 20th century. But the family's patent expired during WWII, making the cutting pattern up for grabs by the general public. While the style is still called the Asscher cut, they are no longer patented or regulated, and instead are really just square emerald cuts. Hence, one in the same.
-
Asscher cut and emerald cut diamonds are very similar. They are both step-cut diamonds, but emerald cuts are elongated with a rectangular outline while Asscher cuts have a square outline, or 1:1 length-to-width ratio. Both shapes have clipped corners rather than points. Asscher cuts, with their even proportions have more of a kaleidoscope sparkle, while emerald cuts have more elongated facets and a larger table, giving them more of a flash effect. But both are sparkly and have fantastic fire — that rainbow flash diamonds are known for.
-
While round diamonds are the most expensive diamond shape, Asscher cut diamonds are one of the most expensive fancy shapes on the market. Asschers only make up about 2% of diamonds available today. This relative rarity means that finding a really great Asscher cut within your budget can sometimes be tough to tackle. Not that it can’t be done.
